About Geocaching

So, you've stumbled across this blog and you have no clue what Geocaching is?

Geocaching is a real-world, outdoor treasure hunting game using GPS-enabled devices. Participants navigate to a specific set of GPS coordinates and then attempt to find the geocache (container) hidden at that location. The container may be filled with goodies, in which case you may take one item, as long as you replace it with something of equal or greater value. You can claim that you found the cache as long as you signed the log book, something which every Geocache must contain (some are very small, and therefore aren't filled with trinkets!)

Geocaches come in all shapes and sizes: perhaps the cache is in a disguise or perhaps it's a huge bucket you could climb into?! Either way, the great thing about caching is that it takes you to stunning places you wouldn't have been to otherwise - it opens your eyes to the world, and the added challenge of finding treasure makes a walk in the countryside even more exciting!

Geocaching is enjoyed by people of all ages, with a strong sense of community and support for the environment - we'd love for you to have a go and join the 6 million of us... there are millions of Geocaches worldwide, so you better get started
If you want to join in, or simply find out, then it'd be wise to visit Geocaching.com, which is the  most popular Geocache listing site (there are others, but this is the best place to get started!)

I encourage you to visit and join the GAGB and check out some of their getting started and help resources.
